Enjoy Your Day...Er...Weekend!

Happy Friday!

So...I tried my hand at a shaped card again, and...I like it. It's so fun to put pieces together like a puzzle and have something fun come out in the end.

I know summer is winding down and school is around the corner but I am just not ready to give up my warm and sunny weather. So today, I wanted bright and cheery colors and what better than Lawn Fawn Lemonade Collection and this cute little guy from Penny Black?

I added some Glossy Accents to the balloon and stickles to his shirt. He puts me in the mood to go to a theme park and eat a corn dog or something. I love summer!

Have a wonderful weekend and happy stamping!

With Sympathy Card Challenge

I was explaining online card challenges to my sister tonight and she asked me to take the challenge to make a sympathy card. As of yet, I hadn't tried one so I jumped on the opportunity.  I'm not sure how I feel about the pink frame but I figured I would post it anyway. One thing that I love about this hobby is the experimenting. It doesn't always turn out the way it is in your head but it is always fun trying new things.

I do like the shadow stamping technique. I've seen it done quite a bit but have never tried it. I stamped the flowers in Hero Arts White Unicorn Ink and then stamped over them with Hero Arts Soft Granite Shadow Ink. I'm definitely going to play around more with this. I love the overall shadow effect.

Happy Stamping!

Let's Shell-ebrate!

Just popping in with a quick card. My nieces are here visiting and we've had a blast making cards today. This one is for my niece Hazel who loves turtles.

I took the challenge to go for a monochromatic look. I used a combination of ink tense pencils and Distress Markers to watercolor the turtle.

I tried to get a photo with the light hitting so the glitter show up on the background.

Happy Stamping!

Single Layer Card Challenge

This is a card I made for the Lawnscaping Single Layer Card Challenge. Masking isn't my favorite technique to do because it's hard for me to visualize that many steps ahead, but I agree with everyone  that the reveal is like Christmas morning...when you've done it right.

I started this card by cutting out an oval shape from some masking sheets, along with one for the branch, the owl, and the moon.

I put on the negative mask for the branch and used the Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. I then stamped the owl in Archival Black Ink because I wasn't quite sure what technique I would use to color him. I covered up the owl, the branch, and the moon with the appropriate masks. With all the masks on I did a combination of Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, and Black Soot Distress Inks to paint the night sky. I then removed the moon (circle) mask and laid over the negative circle mask and applied Scattered Straw and Wild Honey Distress Inks.

To finish it off, I colored the owl with Prisma Colored Pencils, and stamped the stars with Versamark ink and used an iridescent embossing powder. The stars needed more definition so I stamped the outline star in black and used a little white colored pencil to lighten them up a bit.

I used my score board to score two lines on the top and two lines on the bottom to anchor the image and added White enamel accents to the eyes and glitter to the moon for extra pop.

I love how the branch and the owl look three dimensional even though they aren't.  The little bit of white around the edges looks like the light of the moon catching the back of the branch.

Happy Stamping!

Cupcake Happy Birthday

Happy Friday paper crafters! Sorry it has been sooooooooo long since my last post. We are having a fun and busy summer as all of you are I'm sure. I finally had a little time to craft this week and I was in the mood for something girly and frilly with lots of glitter. I purchased this adorable Penny Black stamp several months ago and decided it would fit perfectly.

Sometimes coloring just makes me happy. Maybe it reminds me of Kindergarten, or maybe it's just the magic of bringing something to life right before your very eyes. I went a little crazy on the background but I kind of love it anyway...

I also tried two new techniques for this card. The first is making a shaped card. It was easier than I thought it would be. The second was a technique that I learned from Kathy Racoosin. The pink frame is actually a pink Copic marker colored on white card stock and than blotted with Various Ink. I think I'm in love...

Lots of color, white gel pen, glitter, and a GIANT pink cupcake...HELLO!

Have a fun weekend. Happy Stamping!
